Sinai re-opens to 'transform and make a difference'

Sinai Park House Trust is re-opening the historic Sinai Park House in Burton on Trent for visits and outdoor events on May 17 in a first step following lockdown towards its plan to create a centre of wellness and outdoor learning at the site.  Indoor tours will start again in June.  The reopening coincides with the launch of the new website which includes the debut of a video performance by Lichfield street poet, Emily Rose Galvin, celebrating Sinai’s transformational powers.

Tours of the restored third of Grade II* listed Sinai which is Burton’s oldest building and in the top 7% of important heritage buildings in England, along with its holy water plunge pool, are available to parties of between ten and forty and must be pre-booked.  Click here for details of how to book , as well as information about a series of fundraising events to be held in and around Sinai.  These include a wellness day, Heritage Open Days, outdoor theatre and antiques valuations.  Click here for tickets and further information.

Commenting on the re-opening, secretary of the Sinai Park House Trust, Kate Murphy said, “Sinai has been enjoyed for its qualities of relaxation and recuperation for centuries and it is great that it can begin to offer exactly that to the local and wider community again with tours and special events.  Visitors always comment on Sinai’s transformational power, something which Emily Rose Galvin’s performance poetry really captures.

“Works on the site are re-starting, constructing access to a picnic area, creating the outdoor learning facility for young people and restoring the 250-year-old plunge pool fed by the healing waters of Sinai’s salts of iron spring.  Local support for Sinai is amazing and the Trust is looking forward to welcoming all the individuals and organisations backing the rescue of Sinai Park House as a place that transforms and makes a difference.”

Sinai Park House Trust is the charity coordinating plans to save and restore access to Sinai Park House. Sinai’s re-opening follows the success of its £5,000 Crowdfunder campaign to help resource its new forest school which opens in July.  To become a Friend of Sinai Park House, email laura@sinaiparkhouse.co.uk
