Sinai premieres new '1000 Year Walk' virtual tour

Join us on Saturday 1st May 2021 for the premiere of the '1000 Year Walk', a brand new virtual guided tour from historic Burton to Sinai Park House. Travel through time from the founding of the Abbey in 1003 to the creation of the National Forest and discover the secrets of Sinai too.

The ‘1000 Year Walk’ features local landscape architect Howard Price and head of the Burton Conservation Volunteers, Lawrence Oates. Through their knowledge, we will explore the ancient links between Sinai Park House and Burton Abbey, the most important religious house in the Midlands in Medieval and Tudor times, until dissolved by Henry VIII. We will guide you through historic Burton, the ancient woodlands of Oak Wood and the National Forest up to Sinai Park House using brand new drone footage of the route, filmed stories and snippets about historical features as well as instructions to guide you should you wish to do the walk yourself at a later date.

The walk is the culmination of the Forest School Crowdfunder Campaign and has been created by the Sinai Park House Trust as a virtual experience, owing to the pandemic. Proceeds from the premiere on the 1st of May will be going towards the Sinai Forest School. The walk will be sandwiched between a brief introduction from the two guides, Howard and Lawrence, and concluded by the creators of the virtual tour, Laura and Benedict, up at Sinai Park House to share more of the exciting plans we have for opening up access to the wider public.

The tour premieres at 10.30am on Saturday 1st May 2021 and lasts approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Bookings are managed via the Eventbrite website. Click the button below to buy your ticket.
