The muddiest mud kitchen in Burton-on-Trent

Inaugural Family Fun day and Forest School at Sinai

The inaugural Sinai Park House Family Fun day and Forest School taster took place on 24th July at their stunning historical site in Burton-on-Trent, and was a huge success. Local families were invited to leave their cares at the gate and enter into a world of mud pies, archery, storytelling, mindfulness and natural crafts.

Beautiful weather and a relaxed atmosphere meant families could enjoy all the activities on offer and spend a day connecting with each other and the great outdoors.

Willow crown making proved popular with adults and children alike, families found a moment of calm at the mini mindfulness workshops under the trees of the apple orchard, the children practiced their archery and marshmallow toasting skills, and muddy menus were created in the outdoor mud kitchen.

One parent said afterwards; “I felt extremely relaxed and connected to the outdoors and it was lovely to feel present with my family without day-to-day distractions”.

“I felt relaxed, free and inspired” another parent noted.

The pilot event aimed to show the community how this much-loved site is opening up for visitors once again, and gave families a taste of the events that will be running at Sinai Park House in the near future.

For centuries the site has been a place of sanctuary and healing, and the new events programme is set to put fun and wellbeing firmly back on the agenda at Sinai Park House.

The forest school site will be available for use by school and community groups, as well as for private hire, alongside an exciting programme of public events, including Stay and Play sessions for families with young children, outdoor activity days and other seasonal events.
